It’s Not all Peace and Love.

Don’t be fooled - Working in the Wellness space is not all love and light.

The scene conveys themes of mindfulness, preparation, or artistic expression, possibly related to dance, theater, or meditation.

It’s Not all Peace and Love.

Don’t be fooled - Working in the Wellness space is not all love and light.

It requires a lot of backbone to keep an open heart.

And if the strength isn’t there, keeping your business alive is going to be rough.

Welcome to The Tuesday Thread - A series of reflections on running a successful business in the wellness space - in these times. A short one today as I am teaching Sacred Somatic Journeys down in Devon this week and very much in the zone.

Lets start with the great Gabor -

“It’s impossible to have your eyes open, and not have your heart broken”
- Gabor Mate.

There is a lot happening in the world right now. A great deal of it is fed to us through our devices on a 24 hour non stop loop.

We all feel it and our clients are feeling it too - even if they are not conscious of it’s impact.

To keep our eyes open is to have our hearts broken so no wonder we seek solace in all forms.

And the wellness industry we are a part of will happily serve solace for a hard earned dollar - more stuff, more balm, this fix and that, faster.

Whilst the balm is welcome, the truth is the work of being well requires an ongoing active participation, a stepping into, not a layering on. It requires us to build enough strength in the back to open fully without getting knocked over every time.

It is not enough to soothe now, we need to strengthen.

If we are really here for the betterment of the world we have to understand what it takes to hold an open heart.

To embody that so we can hold others in the exploration.

Why it matters?
Peace actually requires a lot of power to hold. It’s time to start training our backbones to be able to hold our hearts open, to keep connecting, to repair after rupture, to apologise, to empathise, to bridge build - so that we can hold peace.
In short, softness of the heart requires strength in the system.

What are you doing to strengthen now, not to armour, but to uphold?

MY TEACHERS / GUIDES

I am fiercely supported and inspired by a network of teachers, mentors, peers and friends. I wholeheartedly understand that part of my work is to share what I learn from them. Here are the ones who currently inspire, support and teach me, speak in ways that makes me stop and listen and generally shine a light in dark corners.
