Are You Dissapearing?

I am not the first to point out the impact our phones are having on our attention spans, our relationship to dopamine, our behaviour. And I am certainly not going to go full conspiracy theory here, but how about we look at one impact of disappearing into a screen.
Why it matters?
I recently heard a psychotherapist explain that (according to extensive research, not internet anecdotes) longevity + quality of life rests most on the quality of our relationships.
That 5am starts, cold plunge + protein maxxing are good for us to an extent but it's relationship maxxing that makes the biggest difference to our lifespan and the quality of our years.
Where are you?
I sit here in the early summer breeze wondering if email + social media is still the way to reach those who care about living a good life.
Have we all unhooked from the relentless hooks, sales funnels, AI slop + ads, or are you still hanging in there for news of something that feels deeply human + necessary?
I don’t know for certain, but right now it feels like a lot of online spaces (social media in particular) are focused either on feeding us distraction.
What else is there?
As someone who remains dedicated to deeply human connection, it is always so heartening to find online spaces that allow for that…
I recently connected with Laurence McCahill of the Happy StartUp School to find out more about their Summer Camp. Laurence holds calls with folks interested in attending because first + foremost they are a community. Our zoom call was uplifting + thoughtful + I look forward to taking a step towards their collective.
The Portal Collective by Sally Burns (which is now home to my online group offerings) continues to be a source of inspiration in these times. In their words
“Imagine a space where knowledge flows naturally between communities, like nutrients shared through forest root systems. Where creators support each other's growth rather than competing for attention in a biased + crowded algorithm. Where learning happens through genuine interaction rather than passive consumption”.
The best way to understand it is to join (free).
How am I contributing?
I am building a space for wellness practitioners to be properly supported in their essential-for-these-times work, with supervision and community.
Here are some words+images about it, which includes a founders offer.
If you offer medicine to keep people connecting to themselves + others and want to keep doing that for the long run, you might be interested.
If not, please remember - the antidote to disappearing online is human connection.
See you there.

MY TEACHERS / GUIDES
I am fiercely supported and inspired by a network of teachers, mentors, peers and friends. I wholeheartedly understand that part of my work is to share what I learn from them. Here are the ones who currently inspire, support and teach me, speak in ways that makes me stop and listen and generally shine a light in dark corners.
