A Simple 5 week exploration of the basic techniques that help me - be less busy in my brain - stop freaking out - think more clearly - get better rest - feel calmer - be kinder to myself - recharge more sustainably.
Have you noticed, it's when the wheels have already come off that we realise we’ve overdone it.
It's when we have already snapped, collapsed or burst into tears that we realise something might need to change.
It's when we struggle to maintain the energy it takes to keep all the plates spinning that we clock that we may have spread ourselves too thin?
The tiredness is a sign.
As is the inner critic banging the 'you've done it again!' drum.
The inner catastrophiser might start running you through all the scenarios and none of them are good.
And then the panicked victim starts playing the "its alright for them, I have it so hard" recording.
And we might just declare defeat and then feel shitty about it.
And so it spirals.
And it's not our first rodeo in this part of town is it?!
In April I found myself here again, tearful and tired. A bit lost if I'm honest, and a bit fucking annoyed that at 46 I was still doing this. I calling it my April shower.
I wrote about it in a recent IG post.
I was a bit over this way of doing life.
I caught myself catastrophising, criticising and questioning and then…
I remembered that butting my head up against this wall was familiar, as was being on the other side of it.
And that the way through the wall was super accessible and NOT through more effort, but less.
How about you?
How many times have you heard yourself, your friends say "I'm just really/stupidly/mega/too busy" this week?
I'm on 6 and counting.
Other phrases you might be familiar with uttering are
"I'm stressed"
"When will things just calm down?"
"Is it me or is everything just a bit mad at the moment?"
It's true that there is a LOT going on in the world right now.
There are many external things beyond our control.
It is also true that we have powerful ways to manage the impact of these things and some of these are incredibly simple.
How did I handle my April shower?
It was in returning to some super basic practices i was able to recalibrate and access
Because this is fresh AF for me it felt like a good time to share it.And because I get that no-one has capacity for big commitments or big spends right now I am doing it on the simple side.
Because…
You don't have to keep ending up the the Cul De Sac of collapse as a way of life
These are times and it's good to get some skills to navigate them
Your nervous system needs you
It doesn't have to be complicated
It's so good to connect with others in the same boat - literally it's medicine
What is Back to Basics?
5 weeks to
A - Create foundations for easy self regulation in times of stress
B - Connect with others in the same boat
C - Identify what might be your particular triggers
D - Reclaim how to rescue yourself in the future
E - Gently lift the lid on why it might be a pattern
F - Start making smarter choices
G - Catch yourself earlier on next time.
Threaded through the teaching are simple techniques to regulate yourself using
Breathwork - most of us know we can use the breath to affect our state. We will look at what happens to our own breath under stress - we all have different patterns - and some breathing techniques to regulate our system in moments of stress
Movement - did you know how you hold your body and what you do with your eyes, hands and posture can all help calm a frazzled nervous system. I will share some super simple physical hacks to support you when things get a little loopy out in the world.
Sound - we all have a different relationship to making noises, I am NOT going to make you sing to the group - don't worry. And sound can be a really powerful way to get into the body and out of the head, so I will share some noises and notes that can support heightened emotional states.
And all for €50*

Testimonials
I have enjoyed working with Cat so thoroughly. Her down to earth spirit, her soft kind eyes, the space she holds and the techniques she gently weaves throughout the sessions provide such a refreshing alternative as a way of gaining meaningful insights and as a way of accessing one’s own inner wisdom compared with the headyness of so many talk therapies. Although the work can at times feel so subtle it is deeply profound and has left me with a strong heart felt gratitude for you and the work you bring into the world.
I really enjoyed Cat's way of explaining and teaching - I felt she was able to understand and empathise with what participants were bringing to the course and their reactions to it.
"I felt very connected and hugely grateful to the other participants that they were able to to share with me how and what they were feeling"
“Cat’s work is unique in that it touches each person there in a different way, it is not trying to force you into any direction but rather letting you delve deep into your own mind and soul. We don't do this enough in life, and her work gives you that guided, safe place where you can explore yourself peacefully.”
"There is so much respect in the way Cat works"
